MCS was established by a group of like-minded parents in 1977. They believed that children should be able to learn primary level numeracy and literacy in a happy environment that fosters harmonious social interaction and promotes their development as individuals.

Today’s MCS parents continue to support the school's founding commitment to creating a small, friendly school in which children learn and develop in a climate of co-operation, respect, and appreciation of others.

MCS is run as a co-operative society, registered with the Registrar of Co-operative Societies under the Act.
