Who is in charge?
The parents, in conjunction with the teachers. Established and agreed values and some fundamental ground rules and limits form the basis of continuity and a sense of security at the school. This process has worked well since 1977. Teachers (who are chosen by the school community and therefore understand the school’s requirements) are relied upon to follow the standard curriculum while maintaining the school’s philosophy.
How will my child make the transition to high school?
Children who attend MCS are better prepared than most for high school because they are comfortable socially, they get along well with adults and they are used to taking responsibility for their own learning. Past graduates of the school have successfully attended the entire range of secondary schools, and they regularly excel.
What kinds of children attend MCS?
Children attending the school come from a wide range of family types and socio-economic backgrounds, but the vast majority of the MCS families are here for philosophical reasons.
